Indio is known as the "City of Festivals" and it has proudly hosts the annual Indio Date Festival, Tamale festival and Southwest Arts Festival. Indio is a historic and culturally diverse city. It also hosts the Indio Desert Circuit, which is touted as Americas largest horse show. Indio has also hosts the annual Coachella Valley Music Festival which attracts thousands of fans to the Empire Polo grounds.
Indio serves as the gateway to many of the new and popular casinos like Fantasy Springs and Spotlight 29. Indio has many hidden treasures like El Mexicali café located on Indio Blvd. DesertOnline.com rates El Mexicali as the most authentic Mexican food in the entire Coachella Valley.
Indio is also home to the Riverside County courthouse and the Department of Motor Vehicles.
