Palm Desert is also home to "The Living Desert", College of the Desert and the famous McCallum Theatre. The Palm Desert Civic Center boasts one the most impressive public facilities in the Coachella Valley, complete with gymnasium, sports fields, skate-park, dog run, tennis courts, ponds and artistic sculptures scattered around the grounds. Palm Desert also plays host to major events such as the "Battle at Bighorn" and the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic.
